We were in a cafe one afternoon where after the well-deserved latte, Szaffi started to have fun and I started to take pictures of her.
A couple of minutes later I noticed that two guys at the table behind ours were in a deep conversation — they were handsome and sympathetic. Then, at once they had a cuddle and I instantly felt that I want to know their story, get to know their faces and feelings better. When I made eyecontact with them, their reaction was positive so (I, the Cowardly Lion) asked Gabor (no, not Oz) to ask them if they would be okay with me doing a short session with them some day that week. They have let me take a few portraits in that very moment and they opened up so quickly. That felt pretty good. We could not wait for the seaside session! We woke up for a rainy day — that was the only one the whole week — but it did not wash away our good spirits. As soon as we arrived with Szaffi on my back it felt as if we have always known each other. We spent a few hours together this way with Niels and Stephen. The guys told us their story, and we listened happily. Szaffi kept on explaining stuff to them, waving to them just as she does with anyone else she finds nice. Then it hit me, how many times I heard in "disputes" about homosexual people in Hungary that "okay, let them be, but only if they "do their homosexuality" between their own four walls, because then what will I say to my children?!" And then happiness fell onto my heart, light as a feather, that we don't have to say anything to Szaffi because she sees and feels everything she needs to know. We are grateful for the cameras in our hands for bringing the essence of human relationships so close for us. Szandra

The wedding of Claudia and Steve has opened the wedding season for us this year. As usual, we were in a long correspondence with the couple in the last few months in order to understand each other perfectly without words on the day of their wedding. One of the best things is always the conversation about the dress for the stylist in me. When Claudia wrote that she set off to buy the dress with her friend, there was a nice tingling of excitement in the back of head. Then she told me that she had a blue dress in mind for their really intimate and small wedding and my heart started to beat a bit faster. I couldn’t wait to see her in her extraordinary wedding dress. As we were asked to capture the moments of preparations at her house, I was lucky to be amongst the few who saw Claudia first. There were many touching, honest moments we were lucky to experience in that few hours together. We are really grateful for being a part of it. After the ceremony in Bournemouth Town Hall we went on to a beautiful location, Chewton Glen with the newly weds and their family. Picture an elegant, simple venue full of life that provided the perfect place for the sophisticated wedding of Claudia and Steve. It was easy to warm up to them and it was a lovely experience to meet them in person after the wedding and look through their photos together. We wish you lots of happiness in many years coming and we cannot wait to see you again soon, Szandra and Gabor Getting Ready Ceremony |
